Judge Matthew Nicklin from the High Court of England and Wales has reportedly moved a libel legal complaint into dismissal, between Satoshi Nakamoto-claimed to be Craig Wright, and head of Bitcoin.com Roger Ver.

In May 2019, Craig Wright – an Australian crypto enthusiast and self-proclaimed Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto – has brought Ver to court with a libel lawsuit in London. Ver has been sued for calling Wright a fraud and a liar, together with some other things.

“The Claimant has not satisfied me that England and Wales is clearly the most appropriate place to bring his action for defamation over the publications complained of. In consequence, the Court has no jurisdiction to hear and determine the action. The action will be struck out.” Justice Nicklin ruled.

Per Nicklin, the details of the case made him believed that England and Wales have by no means the necessary jurisdiction to handle Wright’s defamation, rather, most of the presented evidence showed that the USA would be a more suitable place for him to press charges.

“The evidence clearly demonstrates that the most substantial publication of the statements complained of is in the U.S. It is common ground that, of the global publication, only some 7% took place in England and Wales.”

Apart from the main reason of jurisdiction for his decision, Nicklin also doubted how far Wright would take his libel case. He claimed the case to be “weak, lacks detail and the three paragraphs I have set out […] put forward evidence at a level of generality that is almost entirely speculative.”
