The non-profit distributed ledger tech ecosystem provider Iota Foundation reportedly forged an alliance with tech heavyweight Dell Technologies, to build a data-driven offering for the real-time tracking of carbon footprints.
Specifically, Edge solutions from Dell Technologies reportedly disclosed details regarding the newly formed partnership with Iota, climate-change-centric technology entity ClimateCHECK, and BioE, to collaboratively build a tool on top of Dell’s in-house projects – Data Confidence Fabric (DCF) and Project Alvarium.
Iota has reportedly been employing a proactive stance towards Project Alvarium, with the initial conceptualization conducted by Dell Technologies three years ago, to take advantage of vetted data from the DFC or “trust fabric” throughout heterogeneous networks.
“Transparency and trust in data are paramount for addressing the global issues of climate change and transitioning to climate action.” Matthew Yarger, head of sustainability at the Iota Foundation, additionally remarked.
Offering further insights into the project, Yarger explained that the four establishments collaboratively built an integrated digital measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) solution.
In conjunction with Project Alvarium, the digital MRV can gather data from sensors and manual input and process it via Dell PowerEdge servers, to ultimately provide insights in a near real-time manner into the carbon footprints of BioE’s sustainable energy and composting facility.
“We’re now able to track and verify data around climate change and how we’re actively trying to address it at a level that’s never been achieved before.”
