Indian Government’s National Power Training Institute Offers Blockchain Training

The National Power Training Institute (NPTI), a national apex body for training in the power sector under India’s Ministry of Power, has started offering blockchain training in multiple cities across the country, Bitcoin.com reported.

The NPTI has already conducted two-day workshops in Faridabad and a five-day blockchain technology program in Durgapur this year. It has scheduled similar programs in the forthcoming year in Nangal on Jan. 6 -10, New Delhi on Feb. 17 – 21, and Shivpuri on March 16 – 20.

The five-day program features 14 sessions that aim to build blockchain expertise of attendees. Areas of focus include an introduction to blockchain; smart contracts and ledgers, Ethereum framework; cryptocurrencies; mining; blockchain for enterprises. In addition, lab and hands-on experiments, along with open discussion and case studies are also included.

Organized by NPTI, the program is sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy. There is no registration fee and each course can have a maximum of 50 participants.

Previously in June, SWAYAM, a learning initiative backed by the Indian Ministry of Human Resource Development, was offering a computer science course on Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

Last month, Minister of State for Electronics and IT (MeitY) Sanjay Dhotre revealed that the government was working on an approach paper for the National Level Blockchain Framework. He said that they’ve already created the Distributed Centre of Excellence in Blockchain Technology, a division that researches the nascent innovation and its various applications.

Meanwhile, South Indian State Tamil Nadu is currently working on a state-level policy to oversee blockchain and AI applications to regulate both technologies.
