Harvard University’s Public Health Graduate School and Levi Strauss & Co(Levi’s), an American clothing company have announced a collaboration to develop a self-reporting infrastructure on blockchain.
According to Reuters, the blockchain-based system will replace external auditors with an annual safety survey on the blockchain making the evaluation of working condition in factories more transparent. Three Levi Strauss’ s factories in Mexico will be the first to use the system this year, another pilot is planned for 2020.
Dr. Eileen McNeely, director of Harvard T.H. Chan’s Sustainability and Health Initiative for NetPositive Enterprise believed that the survey on blockchain could offer a new solution to the existing work in supply chain. The results will never be manipulated due to the transparency of blockchain.
The project’s blockchain solution will be allegedly provided by ConsenSys. According to Reuters, the United States Department sponsors for the development of the system.
