Crypto derivatives exchange FTX has reportedly taken the role of the official sponsor of Major League Baseball – an attempt to achieve bigger mainstream acknowledgment of virtual assets.
Specifically, as included in the scope of the sponsorship agreement, which will run for a minimum of half a decade, each Major League umpire will go out onto the field with an FTX patch on their uniform, per FTX founder and CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.
“It’s not the only partnership we were considering, but the enthusiasm and creativity of the MLB team made it the one we were excited for” He additionally remarked.
The MLB reportedly issued teasing for the development just one day prior to the official release via Twitter, sharing that “Big things are coming”, accumulating more than 12,900 likes.
FTX reportedly went down in history in 2021, following its pioneering role as a crypto entity to obtain the naming rights for a high-profile sports arena. The derivatives exchange formed a partnership which ran for 19 years with Miami-Dade County, to change the name of the Miami Heat’s home stadium to the FTX Arena.
The FTX brand has reportedly established its presence in additional domains also. In early June, the exchange entered a $210 million deal with the international esports brand Team SoloMid to have its name included with the entity’s activities, via changing the team’s name to TSM FTX.
Regarding real spot volumes, FTX has reportedly made it into the list of the top 15 crypto exchange platforms throughout the globe. Within a period of 24 hours, the exchange has finalized the process of over $344 million in volume.
