A law firm in Canada is launching a first-of-its-kind ‘all-crypto’ legal firm. The effort is headed by technology attorney Addison Cameron-Huff in Toronto. His aim is to be the first to market on what he predicts will be a global Bitcoin explosion.
Cameron-Huff has worked as the lawyer for a Bitcoin core developer, several token-based companies, and dozens of crypto startups. He has already represented developers and technology firms working on crypto and blockchain as president of the firm Decentral Inc. and sees an upcoming opportunity to expand the legal representation for crypto.
As the first, all-crypto legal services firm in Canada, Cameron-Huff expects the ongoing uncertainty around Canada’s cryptocurrency regulations to create some business for him, but he is also looking to build a global presence in hopes to help with the massive Bitcoin adoption in the near future.
While lawyers generally work with national statutes, crypto will be uniquely international. Of this, Cameron-Huff said, ‘there are certain corporate-commercial considerations that are cross-border, and legal strategy is international. Many businesses around the world can’t find local legal talent that meets their needs, and this is a strong opportunity.’ Indeed, one of the challenges currently faced by crypto developers is the navigation of international regulations.
As crypto expands its international network of financial operation, there will indeed be a huge boon for legal counselors. Cameron-Huff is the first, but likely not the last person to pursue this specific developing marketplace.
