Blockchain could reportedly be a viable solution for assisting nations such as Kenya in preventing billions of funds due to corruption, United Nations’ drugs and crime agency’s rep claimed. 

Specifically, David Robinson, the regional anti-corruption advisor at the UN’s Office on Drugs and Crime, reportedly believed that tech innovations, such as blockchain, could be a useful tool for assisting Kenya in fighting against authorities corruption, as well as different economic crimes. 

Particularly, Robinson stated that blockchain-powered tools can make transactions fully traceable, offering protection against fraud and registry for the public registries. 

“Blockchain technology becomes attractive to the global community and international organizations because it is a tool that can be used to potentially prevent corruption and protect public registries from fraud and tampering.”

Robinson stated that blockchain plays a crucial role in boosting trust, as corruption is a sign of public trust breach. 

“Online trust became a key asset for transactions between strangers and building confidence in government”. 

Several nations throughout the globe have reportedly been eyeing blockchain and crypto as viable approaches for dealing with corruption. In July this year, the chairman of Kazakhstan’s anti-corruption service reportedly supported the creation of a national digital currency, dedicated to combat corruption.
