Bitmain – China-based crypto mining heavyweight – is reportedly looking to release two new versions of miners – the Antminer S19 and the Antminer S19 Pro.
Specifically announced on February 27th, the Antminer S19 will come with a 95 terahashes per second (TH/s) hash rate, and the figure will be 90 TH/s for the Pro. However, as stated on Bitmain’s official web page, the Pro version actually has the power to generate up to 110 TH/s.
Both versions have been built with a power efficiency of 34.5+/-%5 joules per terahash. The specific release time and price range have yet to be revealed for either of the model.
The S19 series were developed as a replacement the Antminer S17 67 TH/s and the T17 55 TH/s, to run as Bitmain’s flagship models. The S19s will have more weight to it (3.5 and 4.5 respectively) than the previous versions.
“With the price of block rewards to be reduced, the Antminer 19 series safeguard miners for future mining.” Bitmain’s press copy mentioned the upcoming halving.
Previously on February 20th, the Nasdaq-listed crypto mining firm Riot Blockchain has reportedly announced that 4,000 Antminer S17s have begun operating.
Bitmain is experiencing serious heat in the race for the top position in the market from its rival, MicroBT, with approximately 600,000 units of its flagship 60 TH/s WhatsMiner M20 sold last year, surpassing sales figure for Bitmain’s S17.
