Bison Trails, a blockchain infrastructure firm now under Coinbase’s management – has reportedly rolled out a new Polkadot API, which accelerates app design process for developers.
Specifically, Bison Trails clients will reportedly have the freedom to utilize Polkadot Indexer – a new protocol that enables retrieval and query of every kind of blockchain data, with an enhancement in efficiency.
From a technical perspective, Polkadot Indexer does not require as many requests to carry out data pulling to the users’ nodes. Bison Trails noted that for highly active accounts, the Indexer manages to save over a thousand requests.
In practice, the Indexer reportedly functions as an API that supports the same kind of execution, featured across on-chain market intelligence platform Glassnode, DeFi asset management tool Zerion or Zapper wallets, but for Polkadot tokens.
The Indexer is reportedly also rolled out for Kusama, Polkadot’s multichain network.
Regarding wider use cases, the marketing demographic of Polkadot Indexer are reportedly wallets, exchanges and custodians, along with data aggregators, blockchain analytics entities and other developers who build applications on Polkadot and Kusama.
“The Indexer blends two areas of our core expertise: protocol infrastructure and securing blockchain data. Polkadot’s unique infrastructure makes it capable of processing an exceptionally large number of transactions. With the growing adoption from participants and developers, we saw a critical need for better indexing.” Andrew Henshaw, Bison Trails’ CTO, reportedly remarked.
“Polkadot Indexer enables teams to uncover critical data and insights faster than ever, while saving engineering time and resources from having to build and maintain indexing applications in-house.” Joe Lallouz, Head of Bison Trails, further stated.
