Scammers are taking advantages of the upcoming upgrade. Ethereum Nowa and Ethereum Classic Vision are alleged to fork away from ETH and ETC, reports ccn.

The two projects have been directing their users to “deceptive” sites.  Users are promised that they will be able to fork their coins and get money on the alleged new chains.

According to Guarda, a web-based solution similar to Coinomi,  the official web wallets provided by both projects are unsafe. They attempt to capture private keys and transfer the data back to their servers. This mean unsuspecting users may have lost total control of all their funds.

Firefox and MetaMask have put these sites on the warning list.
