Animoca Brands Carries On Acquisition Hype With New MotoGP Mobile Dev

One of the top-tier Web3 digital property rights developers, Animoca Brands, reportedly disclosed details of a new significant acquisition to its increasing portfolio of gaming subsidiaries.

Specifically, the firm revealed plans regarding the acquisition of WePlay Media, which was the designer of the well-known blockchain-game MotoGP Championship Quest, on Frid. Per the agreement, the purchase is a part of the attempt to streamline user engagement in motorsport mobile gaming. 

Graeme Warring, the co-founder and chief operating officer of WePlay Media and co-creator of MotoGP, reportedly regarded the purchase as an exciting opportunity for both sides, as they widen their scope to cater to motorcycle supporters throughout the world.

“Animoca Brands has the ability to reach hundreds of millions of users in core growth demographics to expand the sport’s fan base and create engagement opportunities for the riders, teams and sponsors.”

On the same note, Yat Siu, the co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, reportedly emphasized the potential engagement boost of the purchase of MotoGP and other motorsport-related games under Animoca.

As revealed by to MotoGP’s latest Global Fan Survey, their community possesses high levels of engagement and interest in regular participation in competitive mobile gaming. It reported that 79% of all respondents from 16–24 years of age engaged in competitive gaming on a weekly basis, with 54% of fans based in the Asia-Pacific region.

Animoca has reportedly displayed a high investment effort in building the motorsport gaming industry, as it rolled out a motorsport-based REVV token rewards ecosystem and NFT programs within the MotoGP game.

In early April 2022, Animoca also finalized the acquisition of Eden Games, which built the Gear.Club, the Test Drive series and other popular racing games.
