Amazon Releasing Supporting Features For Bitcoin Payments In 2021

By | July 27, 2021

The E-commerce heavyweight Amazon is reportedly having plans down its pipeline to roll out facilitating features for Bitcoin-enabled payments by the end of the year.

Specifically, per an undisclosed source from Amazon, the initiative to add Bitcoin to the list of viable payment measures will prepare for wider mainstream adoption of crypto transactions, with additional goals to extend the scope to cover other established virtual coins.

“This isn’t just going through the motions to set up cryptocurrency payment solutions at some point in the future — this is a full-on, well-discussed, integral part of the future mechanism of how Amazon will work” The source further revealed.

All preparations have been completed for the official release of the initiative, with the “directive is coming from the very top” – meaning Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Apart from support features dedicated to Bitcoin payments, Amazon is reportedly claimed to be spending resources in researching how to introduce its self-developed cryptocurrency, potentially at the start of 2022.

Rumours revolving around moves from Amazon to establish its presence in the crypto market have reportedly been spread around for days, following a new posting for “Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead” surfaced on the firm’s job hunt page.

The new personnel will reportedly be tasked with contributing to the development of Amazon’s digital currency strategy and product roadmap, with requirements including extensive knowledge in blockchain, distributed ledgers, central bank digital currencies and crypto more generally.
