Google Blocked Access to App Store from Metamask Android Customers

| 28-Th12-2019

Google has reportedly blocked access of all Android-based users of Metamask – an Ethereum (ETH) wallet and decentralized app (DApp) browsing tool – to its Play App store.

Specifically, on December 26, the MetaMask staff has posted a Twitter update, revealing that Google has blocked all access to its app store from android clients of the ETH wallet firm, with the reason stated that MetaMask has violated Google’s financial services policies.

Google has reportedly cited its previously set policy, where all crypto mining-related activities will be strictly banned. The MetaMask team has tried to get Google to lift the ban to its app store, but all efforts have been in vain, as Google has denied all attempts to appeal from Metamask.

“I very much hope that this was an honest mistake on the part of Google’s reviewers, but in combination with all the crypto YouTube bans, it definitely puts me at disease about how Google is engaging with decentralizing technologies. If people accept this behavior from a mobile monopoly like Google, we may not deserve something better.” MetaMask co-lead developer Dan Findlay reportedly remarked.

Recently, the major video sharing platform owned by Google – Youtube – has made numerous videos, which has contents related to digital coins, disappeared. However, a Youtube spokesperson has reportedly clarified that those were some accidentals actions, and contents will gradually come back to the platform.
