Beowulf Blockchain Looks to Provide a Unique Glimpse into the Development for Smart Cities in Vietnam

| 08-Th11-2019

On November 8, 2019, Beowulf Blockchain gave a lecture the Saigon Hi-Tech Park’s 6th Annual International Conference with the theme “Blockchain for Smart City” and provided insights on blockchain-based solutions where opportunities can be generated in the exchange of technological innovations, and ultimately can greatly benefit the future development of smart city model in Vietnam.

The event assembled hundreds of attendees who are local and international entrepreneurs and experts in the field of blockchain and fintech. With a focus on exchanging and discussing the research and development of blockchain technology in the world as well as their potential applications in Vietnam, especially how to support to HCMC building up its smart city model based on the blockchain technology application, the conference enhances the collaboration between the local and international researchers to promote the technology transfer from the academy to the industry in this emerging field.

Beowulf to Power Smart City Management: A Holistic Vision

One of the collateral developments born from blockchain technology is an increased premium placed on privacy, and the innovation that comes with broader public demand for more secure and private communication networks. In addition, the deployment of blockchains has also uncovered some intriguing cases outside of just digital privacy, specifically, in making network infrastructure more reliable, accessible via the pay-per-use model, and available at lower costs.

Beowulf Blockchain is expanding on a growing industry targeting the convergence of blockchains and technologies that underscore the Internet, notably in the field of communication and telemedicine, and in the process, is providing a unique glimpse into the future development of smart cities.

Dr. William H. Nguyen, CEO and Founder of Beowulf Blockchain explained the important factor underscoring the feasibility of such solutions is that besides being efficient and sustainable, smart cities must create interoperable platforms that produce innovation ecosystems and services capable of frictionless cross-border payments, predicting and monitoring real-time events and addressing legal compliances related with data privacy—without compromising the accessibility and affordability for all citizens.

Dr. William H. Nguyen, CEO and Founder of Beowulf Blockchain elaborated on the applicability of Beowulf’s technology suite for the implementation of smart cities

For example, healthcare firms require the highest levels of security/privacy for walling off sensitive user health data along with performant communication rails. HANA is Beowulf’s proprietary platform for comprehensive telemedicine which helps address these issues by efficiently ensure head-on the legal compliance issues most hospitals and healthcare organizations are facing, with a record of every transaction on the Beowulf blockchain.

Unlike other consumer video communication applications that are often used with friends and co-workers, such as Facetime and Skype, HANA telemedicine is HIPAA-compliant and conducts remote medical consultations using two-way interactive and collaborative video conferencing technology. Coupled these factors with the pay-per-use billing model with frictionless payments supported due to the inherent cross-border nature of blockchain, HANA will make medical care and health services much more accessible and affordable to every citizen anytime and anywhere in the era of smart cities.

Dr. William H. Nguyen also discussed privacy issues in today’s digital era, where one of our most sensitive pieces of personal identification, our telephone number, is abundantly available for nefarious actors to take advantage of. Especially when considering some of the adverse collateral effects in communications technology have exposed themselves in recent years ie. Facebook, the communication landscape is ripe for disruption.

To address this issue, he presented a new and innovative solution from Beowulf Blockchain called QUICKOM can easily solve this issue through an in-bound communication services that utilizes QR codes to connect people without dialing a single digit.

QUICKOM gives power back to people who are incessantly harassed by telemarketers, and even nefarious parties as the user now has the ability to control their own inbound calling, which can lead to a safer and more comfortable use of personal communications. Dr. William H. Nguyen affirmed that QUICKOM will mark a new age in telecommunications for communication in the era of smart cities, allowing smart homes to make and receive calls and text messages on their own terms, and the intercommunications between different households in smart cities.

“Ho Chi Minh City is forging ahead with smart city development initiatives by harnessing data and technology to create efficiencies, improve sustainability, and enhance the quality of life for the people living and working in the city,” Dr. William H. Nguyen voiced optimism about what could be accomplished given that he said Vietnam has the advantage of moving fast in such explorations.

“The prospect of playing a disrupting part in helping to fundamentally transform the landscape for communication and telemedicine is a huge motivator. I have no doubt that the technological advances at the heart of Beowulf Blockchain can help to address widespread inefficiencies and operational challenges in the implementation of smart cities.”
