Nigerian Blockchain Firm Founder Sent Back $80K in Bitcoin Mistakenly Transferred

Keith Mali Chung – founder and current head of Africa-based blockchain company Loopblock Network – has given back $80,000 equivalent of Bitcoin (BTC) transferred to his account by accident.

Chung – a.k.a “Bitcoin Keith (The African Bitcoin Bull)” on his social account on Twitter – revealed the details to the story on September 12. 

“I received huge sum of BTC from an unknown sender and it’s definitely a mistake from someone I must have had transaction with before, Kindly DM me time of transaction, your address and exact digits sent..

On the following day, Chung claimed that the precise amount of Bitcoin mistakenly sent to his account was  7.8 BTC — equivalent to $79,482. He further disclosed that the sender – whose name will be kept in secret – has reached out to his efforts for connecting, making his intention for returning the fund possible. 

“In Africa, which is where I am situated, 80% we transact Cryptos through WhatsApp escrows and someone who himself and I had business in the past made this huge mistake of sending 7.8 BTC into my blockchain wallet. I spread the words round & he reached out.”

Chung’s action has helped portrayed a better image for him on social networks, along with the “African/Nigerian good samaritan” on crypto Twitter. Were he unable to locate the owner of the fund, it will be donated to Binance on Chung’s will, that would provide financial aids for numerous philanthropic projects via its charity arm, Binance Charity.
