Swiss online banking and trading giant Swissquote and Zug-based Crypto Storage AG are jointly launching a crypto custody service on March 21, enabling transactions of cryptocurrencies from external wallets to a Swissquote account, according to media release (Mar 8).
Essentially, Crypto Storage AG, a subsidiary of Crypto Finance AG, is to secure crypto private keys, physical and digital, while adhering to the “highest grade hardware security modules” (HSMs), as stated on it website.
“Our HSMs are the same as those built for the Swiss National Bank,” said the company’s CEO Stijn Vander Straeten, who also clarified that its server racks are located in a former nuke-proof military bunker as to further ensure the company’s solid ability.
Swissquote has actively opted in the crypto industry, launching Bitcoin (BTC) trading services with Bitstamp back in 2017, adding Bitcoin cash (BCH), ether (ETH), litecoin (LTC) and XRP later in the year.
The firm also introduced a bitcoin exchange-traded product in 2017 that aims to tackle the crypto’s liquidity problem for the long run, while last year it offered exposure to various digital assets via its first actively managed multi-cryptocurrency certificate on the SIX Swiss Exchange.
