Russian Central Bank Exec Supports Crypto Mining If Conditions Are Met

| 11-Th7-2022

Kirill Pronin, head of the Russian Central Bank (CBR)’s department of financial technologies, reportedly revealed that crypto mining will be supported legally if particular conditions are satisfied.

Specifically, Pronin reportedly made an unusual case of acknowledging crypto mining in a public manner, with the CBR presses on with its attempts to fight crypto legalization in the nation.

The executive reportedly shared his perspective regarding mining during the Saint-Petersburg International Legal Forum on June 29th. Via the session, focusing on cryptocurrencies, Pronin disclosed that CBR do not adopt the similar hardline stance when it comes to mining to the case of general crypto legalization.

“Despite the fact that we are speaking up consistently for the prohibition of cryptocurrencies’ turnover […] the discussion regarding mining’ legalization is possible.”

Nonetheless, Pronin reportedly mentioned a few conditions that, according to him, will greatly amplifies the possibility of the discussion. He insisted that the mined assets should be sold strictly outside of the nation and in return for money in fiat form.

“Ultimately, we must say that there should be an export of these mining services, and the mining business shouldn’t lead to accumulation of cryptocurrency in the country, so there won’t be a motivation for a further usage in the internal payments.”

Via a seemingly personal reenactment of the ongoing fight for crypto between the CBR and the Ministry of Finance, the latter’s head of the department of financial policy Ivan Chebeskov shared his vocal disagreement towards Pronin, as well as reminding him that noteworthy obstacles are visible for miners in Russia who would conduct the selling of their crypto outside of the nation these days.

Pronin, as a response to the claim, stated that there are no issues regarding the accumulation of the mined wealth on the public blockchains and selling it with their help.
