New Alliance to Achieve NFT Tokenization For Endangered Animals

| 24-Th4-2022

Decentralized carbon credit exchange Coorest from Holland has reportedly formed a collaboration with PLCnetwork to achieve tokenization for endangered animals at game reserves in Africa.

Specifically, Coorest and conservation consulting firm PLCnetwork of the Southern Hemisphere will collaboratively work on the tokenization of individual real-world endangered animals at game reserves and privately owned conservation areas in Africa.

The wildlife NFTs will reportedly offer a measure for holders to sponsor an elephant, lion, cheetah or rhino. The capital generated from the sales will be dedicated towards food, shelter and security for the animals they represent.

William ten Zijthoff, founder and chief executive officer of Coorest, reportedly shared further insights into the way blockchain can be combined with sustainability to support wildlife preservation.

Coorest is reportedly widely recognized for functioning an NFTrees CO2 compensation system, which aims to achieve tokenization for yield-bearing assets or bonds and carbon credits that are tradable on the blockchain.

The individuals who purchase an NFTree will reportedly collect and burn the CO2 tokens to register the amount of CO2 brought down.

In a similar manner, the wildlife concept views conservation as an asset that should be subjected to investment purposes, in order to help both the animals and the environment.

Conservation areas or eco-lodges “need new business models that don’t depend on tourism for income or donations”, per William ten Zijthoff, which resulted in the Coorest-PLCnetwork of the Southern Hemisphere alliance, with with latter possessing connections to wildlife reserves in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana.

Zijthoff further revealed that the primary perks of owning an elephaNFT or a lioNFT are, is for developing a long-term relationship with the animals, the wildlife reserve and Coorest, with the wildlife NFTs offering no ownership over the animals, but instead offerings a monthly “proof-of-life” verification that the animal is still alive.
