Bitcoin (BTC) mining hardware manufacturer Canaan Inc reportedly made moves to amplify its presence across Kazakhstan, via entering new strategic agreements with numerous local crypto mining entities.

Specifically, The Nasdaq-listed firm reportedly disclosed on December 4th that it completed the deployment of 10,300 AvalonMiner units in Kazakhstan, as of Dec. 31 last year, concluding its initial deployment phase in the central Asian nation.

Canaan is reportedly forging an alliance with businesses in the area as included within the scope of its business expansion plans beyond the China territory.

Nonetheless, the firm reportedly refused to disclose details related to any of its local partners.

Regardless of Canaan being headquartered in Hangzhou, China, the firm is reportedly aiming for expansion beyond the scope of its home nation, following Beijing’s wholesale scrutiny on crypto mining last year.

Zhang Nangeng – Head of Canaan – reportedly voiced out against the mining prohibition during an earnings call in July, telling investors that crypto miners offer an enhanced level of utilization for stranded electricity, as well as making positive contributions to employment and the local economy.

With China trying to rule the crypto mining sphere out of play, neighboring Kazakhstan has reportedly put in efforts to take the place, offering displaced miners cheap and plentiful coal.

By June last year, the fifth-biggest mining pool across the globe had reportedly established its operations in Kazakhstan. One month later, Kazakhstan made up approximately a fifth of the entire Bitcoin mining output of the world.

China’s barring on Bitcoin mining reportedly led to a significant slump in network hash rate, but the situation has made a sharp U-turn when displaced miners established new bases of operations.
