Incoming NY mayor Believed Crypto Studies Should be Part Of School Curricula

New York Mayor-elect Eric Adams reportedly expressed a determined attitude towards his support for crypto, believing that crypto-related knowledge should be a part of schools’ curricula. 

Specifically, Adams reportedly shared his remarks for crypto via an interview with CNN’s State of the Union on November 7th, believing it is “a new way of paying for goods and services throughout the entire globe”. 

Adams consequently called for schools in the area to help students achieve “the new way of thinking”, which blockchain and crypto assets have to offer. 

“We must open our schools to teach the technology, to teach this new way of thinking.”

“When I talked about blockchain and Bitcoins, young people on the street stopped and asked me, ‘What is that?’” Adam shared his surprise upon discovering his young constituents are low in crypto awareness. 

He further mentioned plans to incentivize establishments in New York to add Bitcoin (BTC) and different crypto coins to its list of viable payment measures, claiming that he would “tread carefully” and “get it right.”

The mayor-elect additionally stated that New York needs to protect its standing as a “center of innovation, no matter what that innovation is.”

Remarks made by Adams have reportedly received reactions from both ends of the emotional spectrum from the crypto community on social media.

Twitter user Nima Abed reportedly sided with Adams, believing that the incorporation of crypto studies into school curricula is a “must”, believing that new investors need to possess “an open mind and sufficient knowledge” prior to setting foot in the digital asset markets.

Others produced criticism towards the proposition, with user InnocenceCapital stating that schools should concentrate on successfully teach[ing] math, history, science, language and actual financial concepts first”.
