Top-tier telecommunication firm from South Korea – KT Corp – has reportedly revealed its strategy to establish a fully electronic blockchain-based documentation solution for carbon ambitions.

Specifically, the telecommunications entities are reportedly providing sources for approximately 90% of the country’s fixed-line mobile networks, together with an additional 45% of broadband high-speed internet services.

The e-document venture – which goes by the name  “E-document Digital Transformation (DX) One Team” – will reportedly operate as a joint project of 14 different establishments, working towards achieving the primary goal of bringing down the network’s carbon emission output.

As soon as the implementation is in place, the project will reportedly conduct the digitization of the whole traditional paper-dependent documentation process, from creation through to storage and finally customer distribution.

The numeral target is reportedly to complete the conversion of 4.5 billion paper documents into e-documents on a yearly basis, significantly bringing down carbon emissions by 129.6 billion tons.

In March last year, the company reportedly rolled out a blockchain-powered platform dubbed Paperless, to offer assistance to businesses and organizations, regarding the digitization of  creating and storing contract documents

“We expect KT Paperless Service to reduce corporate document management and costs so that it will improve the business process as well.” An official from KT Corp, Yoon Dong-Sik, reportedly remarked regarding the effect of the paperless system.
