Iran’s Ministry of Industries, Mining, and Trade has reportedly finalized the issuance of operating licenses for 30 crypto mining facilities locally, as revealed by Financial Tribune.

Specifically, as disclosed in the ministry web page, Iran’s Semnan Province was granted the highest number of licenses, with six crypto mining farms obtaining authorization to function in the area.

Alborz Province reportedly acquired four of the total licenses, Mazandaran, East Azarbaijan, and Zanjan Provinces following behind. Tehran Province – where the nation’s capital is situated – has only managed to secure only one license to host a crypto mining facility.

The ministry additionally completed the issuance of 2,579 establishment permits, dedicated to new industrial crypto mining units throughout the nation, where 305 of which are sent to Zanjan Province. Fars Province and West Azerbaijan took the following spots, obtaining 262 and 247 permits respectively.

An operating license is reportedly one of the must-have requirements for Iran-based entities to begin running a legally approved crypto mining farm. Establishments cleared to join need to obtain establishment permits, as well as build their industrial unit in under a 12-month period, and then submit an application for the operating license.

Crypto mining is legally accepted across Iran, since miners can be operational in compliance with laws enacted by the authority in July 2 years ago.

The development reportedly surfaced following Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s disclosure of a blanket ban on Bitcoin mining locally, lasting until September, in an effort to relieve pressure on the national power grid.
