Encrypted messaging app Signal has reportedly added crypto, including Bitcoin and Ether, in the least of viable methods for accepting donations from its clients.

Specifically, Signal reportedly disclosed that the entity will begin to receive crypto-enabled donations, as a supporting gesture towards the Signal Technology Foundation, the nonprofit organization behind the app.

“As a nonprofit organization, we depend on your support. If you’ve been patiently waiting for Signal to accept cryptocurrency donations, you no longer need to hold back your generosity,” Signal reportedly remarked.

Crypto donations are reportedly included in Signal’s “Donate” section across its official web page, with details claiming that the new function is accessible through the high-profile crypto donations platform The Giving Block.

An overall number of 12 digital coins will reportedly be facilitated, including Bitcoin, Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Gemini Dollar (GUSD), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Zcash (ZEC) and Chainlink’s LINK.

“The Giving Block also supports anonymous donations” Signal reportedly revealed via a memo that comes with its crypto donation section.

Signal reportedly functions as a cross-platform messaging solution with end-to-end encryption. The Signal Technology Foundation was reportedly rolled out in February 2 years ago, by WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton, who quit from his job at both WhatsApp and Facebook to build Signal in 2017.

In January, Platformer newsletter founder Casey Newton reportedly revealed that Signal was running tests for the payment functions with Binance-backed Stellar-based privacy coin platform MobileCoin.
