Miami Mayor Francis Suarez has reportedly put up a proposal, suggesting adding Bitcoin (BTC) to be regulatorily accepted payment measure throughout various divisions of the city’s administrations.

Specifically, the Mayor reportedly shared that the city commission has expressed a pro-attitude towards the resolution, and is now moving forward with the next steps.

“I wanna thank the city of Miami commissioners for supporting my resolution, which directs a city manager after analysis to procure a vendor to be able to offer our employees to get a percentage of their salary in Bitcoin; allows our residents to pay for fees in Bitcoin.”

The resolution would also put a proposition in front of the state legislature, which should be approved, would make Bitcoin a viable investment for municipal funds.

“It’s wonderful to be a very crypto-forward city, and I wanna thank my commission colleagues for allowing that to happen.” Suarez reportedly remarked.

A few of the city commissioners reportedly have a cautious stance, regarding jumping into the Bitcoin scene, and require a thorough research into the potential risks before official roll-out.

“Maybe you’re ahead of your time, maybe you’re right, but let’s analyze it”, commissioner Manolo Reyes reportedly remarked, and believed it would be best to make sure “we all know what we’re getting into”.

Suarez – who will be a part of the re-election in 2021 – has reportedly been gradually earning a reputation of an advocate for emerging tech such as crypto.
