Australia has reportedly teamed up with Singapore to roll out a global blockchain trial, following a countrywide APS blockchain network for federal, state, and local staff. 

Specifically, the Australian Australia Border Force is reportedly conducting a trialing phase to test blockchain’s adaptation for inter-government document exchanges with Singapore Customs and Singapore Infocomm Media Development Authority, as included in a bigger strategy for promoting blockchain. 

“This initiative will incorporate paperless trading and secure, digital exchange of trade information as part of the future architecture and design of an Australian Trade Single Window.” ABF Commissioner Michael Outram reportedly shared that the trial will assist with trading and compliance records digitization. 

The members associated with the project reportedly includes The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Australian Industry Group, as well as financial entities throughout Australia and Singapore, including ANZ.

The Border Force will reportedly transfer all insights they generated from the project to the Supply Chain Working Group. The pilot project is reportedly included in the National Blockchain Roadmap, spearheaded by Chloe White from the Department of Industry, Science, Energy, and Resources.

White provided her explanation, claiming that the network was reportedly designed with a goal to  “uncover who are the public servants that are interested in blockchain.”
