The accumulated amount of Bitcoin ATMs functioning across the globe has reportedly crossed a new milestone – 10,000 – in 2020.
Specifically, per insights disclosed by financial services firm AksjeBloggen from Norway, the number of Bitcoin ATMs (BTMs) has reportedly experienced an incline of 87% throughout 2019, a leap from the specific 5336 machines set up last year.
2020 exclusively, the set up process for approximately 3,900 new ATMs have reportedly been finalized. At the moment, 10,014 ATMs across 71 nations enabling users to purchase and sell Bitcoin (BTC) and altcoins for cash have been normally operational.
“2020 has witnessed a surge in the number of ATMs supporting digital coins. 3,885 new BTMs [opened] worldwide between January and September, a 67% increase in nine months.” AksjeBloggen report further noted.
At the moment, the US has been at the top spot internationally with a wide margin, with over 7,800 BTMs. Standing in the 2nd place is Canada, with 869 machines.
Users will reportedly be able to execute buying or withdrawing of major cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ether (ETH), Dash (DASH), Litecoin (LTC), Zcash (ZEC), Monero (XMR), Dogecoin (DOGE), Tether (USDT) and XRP.
