Australian Shoemaker Utilized VeChain for Nike Shoes Genuinity Verification

| 26-Th6-2020

A custom shoemaking manufacturer from Australia is reportedly employing blockchain-powered traceability platform VeChain for the genuinity verification process of licensed Nike shoes.

Specifically, VeChain’s ToolChain Suite and Thor Blockchain will reportedly be used by shoemaker Chase Shiel, via a collaboration with retailer The Kickz Stand, to verify the authenticity of a batch of limited edition the sneakers – based on the Stussy’s ‘SB Dunk’ shoe rolled out previously in 2005.

The Kickz Stand previously disclosed its collaboration with VeChain in November last year, sharing that the traceability platform would become an assisting tool for combating counterfeit merchandise and prove genuinity.

Chase Shiel’s shoes are reportedly shipped along with a VeChain’s tracking chip, enabling access to detailed product data via a scannable QR code.

Despite the plan to collaborate with a a licensed shoemaking firm for confirming the authenticity of non-genuine Nike’s could reportedly appear odd to a few individuals, Redditor ‘Nopers5’ reportedly believed that the blockchain company is expecting Nike to reach out in a proper way, when they notice VeChain’s work with licensees.

“This is the best strategy by Vechain. Target the small shoe companies that have released Nike licensed products, and maybe eventually Nike comes calling.”

Earlier this month, VeChain has reportedly disclosed its alliance with Walmart subsidiary and premium shopping chain Sam’s Club and the Shenzhen Yuhongtai Foods Company, to adopt a modified ToolChain version used for tracking a wide array of food products across their supply chain for Sam’s Club, and ToolChain will be utilized for the same purpose with pork products for Yuhongtai’s retailer, Meijiada Fresh Foods.
