Tennis Star Naomi Osaka Endorsing Crypto Exchange FTX by Becoming Ambassador

By Natalie Wu | March 22, 2022

Naomi Osaka – who formerly ranked first as a tennis player throughout the globe – has reportedly been the most recent name in the sports and entertainment sphere to throw her weight behind crypto exchange FTX.

Specifically, FTX reportedly revealed via an announcement on March 21st that Osaka will be taking an equity stake in the exchange, along with receiving an anonymous sum of cryptocurrency, as reward for her endorsement.

Per the crypto exchange, the tennis star will reportedly be involved in a “long-term partnership”, working towards a primary goal of attracting more females into the industry.

“We have seen the statistics about how few women are part of crypto by comparison, which kind of mirrors the inequality we see in other financial markets. Cryptocurrencies started with the goal of being accessible to everyone and breaking down barriers to entry.” Osaka further claimed.

Taking the role of an FTX ambassador, Osaka will be following the footsteps of football legend Tom Brady – who won seven Super Bowls – as well as Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen and NBA star Stephen Curry.

The exchange further revealed that she would “creatively direct and produce content” catering to audiences at an international scale, and feature FTX’s logo during her competition at the Miami Open, starting on March 21st.

The announcement reportedly surfaced after FTX founder and CEO Sam Bankman-Fried disclosed at the Australian Blockchain Week, regarding the plan to set up a division in Australia of the exchange.

Local Senator Andrew Bragg simultaneously revealed his intention of rolling out legislation working towards the goal of addressing challenges in crypto custody, taxation, and the operations of decentralized autonomous organizations.
