Bakkt Teamed Up With Fast-food Restaurant Chain Quiznos to Facilitate BTC-enabled Payment

By Shannon Wilson | August 4, 2021

Intercontinental Exchange subsidiary Bakkt has reportedly formed an alliance with US-based franchised fast-food restaurant chain Quiznos, to add Bitcoin as a viable payment measure for meals at specific shops.

Specifically, the partnership will reportedly facilitate BTC-enabled payment throughout selected Quiznos shops in Colorado’s capital, as covered within the scope of an initial trial phase.

“The pilot will be available at select Quiznos locations across the Denver market, including the high-traffic Denver airport location, starting in mid-August”.

Customers’ payments will reportedly be finalized via Bakkt’s app – a versatile service dedicated to Bitcoin spending and safekeeping. Reward points management features, together with many others, will also be rolled out.

Quiznos is reportedly under the possession of REGO Restaurant Group, with its president, Mark Lohmann, sharing his remarks regarding how forming an alliance with an innovative platform like Bakkt could be beneficial in more than one way.

“primarily because it allows us to accept bitcoin directly at the point of sale as part of a quick and seamless transaction […] As we continue our digital transformation journey and respond to mobile and millennial consumer demand for alternative and cryptocurrency payment options, we are excited to offer yet another accessible way for customers to buy a meal, in this case, through the Bakkt digital asset wallet.”

The trial phase reportedly also offers additional advantages, where customers of Quiznos will be able to earn $15 of free Bitcoin should they download Bakkt’s app, carry out a buy for a sum of BTC, and use that sum to pay at the Quiznos shop.
