AMC Theatres CEO Aims to Include SHIBA As Viable Payment For Movie Tickets

AMC Entertainment is reportedly aiming to finalize the update of its technical infrastructure, to support payment conducted in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Dogecoin (DOGE) for movie tickets.

However, the scope of the update will not only be confined in the above developed.

Specifically revealed via Twitter by Adam Aron – current Head of AMC Entertainment – is reportedly gathering feedback from the general audience if they would like the firm to add Shiba Inu in the list of viable coins for payment also. 

At the time of writing, a total of 97,582 Twitter users have been involved in the voting, with around 85% of voters going with “Yes.”.

The well-known theatre chain has reportedly displayed an increasingly keen attitude towards crypto recently. In October this year, its CEO brought up the possibility of rolling out a company-specific cryptocurrency for debate. 

Also in October, AMC released facilitating features for its customers to buy digital gift cards using Dogecoin and a variety of cryptocurrencies via the BitPay wallet.

A month ago, Aron reportedly showed interest towards the concept of minting commemorative movie tickets as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) via a CNBC interview.

Shiba Inu has reportedly surpassed Dogecoin to secure the ninth spot in the list of top nine largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, with the daily number of Shiba Inu transactions exceeding 140,000, which is close to the all-time high of 172,411 day-to-day transactions clocked in in May.
